National Debtline is a national telephone helpline for people with debt problems in England, Wales and Scotland. We give expert advice over the telephone and by email and send callers in debt a self-help information pack free of charge. The service is free, confidential and independent. Freephone 0808 808 4000. Consumer Credit Counselling Service


Suitable for anyone with debts, mainly those with sufficient income to enter a debt repayment scheme. Clients on a very low income including benefits, should refer to their Citizens Advice Bureau or National Debt Line.

Money Advice Scotland


Money Advice Scotland is for anyone in Scotland who has a problem with debt. It will refer callers to local advice services in their area. There is also a directory of money advice centres in Scotland available.

Tax Credits


Child Tax Credit:
You can claim Child Tax Credit if you are responsible for at least one child or young person. You do not have to be working to claim.

Working Tax Credit:
If you are responsible for a child or young person you can claim Working Tax Credit if you are aged 16 or over and work at least 16 hours a week. If you don't have children you can claim Working Tax Credit in certain circumstances.
